HAM RADIO WILL BE THERE TO ASSIST.

WE ARE A GROUP OF AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS

DEDICATED TO THE WELFARE OF HAM RADIO

All Other Area Amateurs Welcome!

Ham Radio Operators have been operating in Mercer County for many years, Frank Carlson, George King, Marilyn Ringle, Maynard Greer, Nellie Rose Greer, Warren Greer (some of our silent keys) and Art Johnson , who resides at the Mercer County Nursing Home, are some of the earlier ones. Our goal is to help with any emergency communications locally or in the surrounding areas if and when it may be needed.  We hope to do this by developing a successful rapport with all clubs and agencies within Mercer County, and the surrounding areas, for the purpose of cooperation and help (how ever it may be needed). Ham operators come from all walks in life as some may be Police Officers, Firemen, Medics, Communications workers, or just everyday people who have an interest in, and share a common cause.

Amateur Radio is a hobby for some and passion for others.

It provides hours of past-time for one and all.

It provides a means of meeting other Amateur Radio  Operators through contacts and other related events.

If you are interested in getting an Ham License or An Amateur just wanting to get involved in a local organization, please contact us.

"America's quiet warriors are the legion of ham radio operators, 700,000 of them, who are always at ready for backup duty in emergencies--amateur, unpaid, uncelebrated, civilian radio operators, during and after floods and fires and tornadoes. After the 9/11 attacks, hams were indispensable in reuniting friends and families. Most recently it was they who expedited the search for debris after the disaster to the space shuttle Columbia, and right now, at this moment, they are involved in homeland security to a greater degree than you would want me to make public." The commentary's enigmatic and mysterious final sentence --typical of Harvey's habit of leaving his listeners hanging--apparently refers to the fact that many Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and Radio Amateur Emergency Service (RACES) teams have ramped up their alert status as hostilities heat up in the Middle East.  – Excerpt from Paul Harvey News and Commentary, ABC Radio, March 19, 2003 Web Master Note: (and more recently KATRINA) http://www.spacetoday.org/SpcShtls/ColumbiaExplosion2003/ColumbiaExplosion2003.html
